No love lost there for his not picking Alvarez for the HR Derby. But it all worked out in the end.

I'm so glad you had fun in the Burgh. TE city is so much fun to hang around in, and PNC Park is just a jewel. HOWEVER, there is no way that every seat is only 88 feet from home plate. The outfield wall is 300 to 400 feet away. Anyone in the outfield seats would have to be at least that far from home. I think the duck boat people meant 88 yards. Regardless, there's no a bad seat in the place, and it has the best view in baseball.

The Steelers and Pirates have been black and gold forever, but the Penguins started out on baby blue. They didn't change to black and gold until the early 80s, after the other teams started stacking up Championships. But you're right, it was a good idea, and it's all based on Pittsburgh history. (Love the Smithfield St Bridge, my Grandpa's old stomping ground.) bluzdudehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05991272670722362652noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329507352453931374.post-11042687764767878682013-07-16T07:02:12.464-04:002013-07-16T07:02:12.464-04:00On Saturday, I found the Pirates' fans to be m...On Saturday, I found the Pirates' fans to be much better behaved than your experience, even when sitting among a crowd of Mets' fans. Of course that may be in part attributable to me telling my hubby not to boo the Mets' fans which happened occasionally. The most perplexing part of the evening for me was the very loud booing that occurred every time David Wright went to bat. I figured he must be a former Pirate. Only after I googled him did I realize that it had to do with originally snubbing Pedro Alvarez in the Home Run Derby. Who knew that that the Home Run Derby was a real thing? Probably you and definitely not me. All in all I had a wonderful first time MLB game experience. Section 305, Row M was a winner and a summer evening game is the way to go! I learned later that no seat is the stadium is more than 88 feet from home plate (according to our Ducky Boat tour guide...yes, we did that too, Sunday, and rode the Duquesne Incline on Saturday. It was a weekend of checking off some things from my bucket list). I love Pittsburgh! One last thing. It's the only city that I can think of that has color coordinated its hockey, baseball and football team colors. It's so smart. I learned too that's because the Pitt Family Crest colors were gold and black and appears on the Smithfield Street Bridge. I'm just a
fountain of trivia this morning, all of which you and Cassie and a hundred other readers know! And the lines weren't even an issue. Really, it was practically empty, for a giveaway night. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329507352453931374.post-44686948892857122762013-07-15T17:48:01.348-04:002013-07-15T17:48:01.348-04:00What we have now is a culture of “experts.” Wheth...What we have now is a culture of “experts.” Whether it’s sports, politics or a legal issue, people watch a little TV and listen to what other say, then they think that passes for their own expertise. People arguing calls from anywhere in the stands is bad enough, but protesting balls and strikes from the nosebleed section where I was? The ball could be a foot outside, and you couldn’t tell that from our angle. Idiots…

And yeah, even if they could hear the guy, would it matter even the tiniest bit? I think all that yelling is just a way for some people to convince those nearby that they are smarter and more passionate than anyone else. It’s no different that yelling, “Look at ME! Pay attention to ME!”

(Remember, all I’m talking about here one guy yelling when no one else is. Cheering with the crowd at key moments is still cool… Same goes for standing up when no one else is. It’s a sure-fire way to identify the assholes in the crowd.)
bluzdudehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05991272670722362652noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329507352453931374.post-74465068345299632692013-07-15T12:24:18.809-04:002013-07-15T12:24:18.809-04:00I really don't get screaming at the umps.
