While it's not chatting, per se, you are developing relationships with people online through snippets of conversations. Some people I have met from blogging have become some of my closest real life friends. Some of them I have only seen in real life or even spoken to on the phone ONCE. It is entirely reasonable to "fall" for someone just from chatting online.
