The Obligatory Thanksgiving Post

Whoo Hoo!  Day off!

I actually have to work tomorrow, so this day off will have to stand alone.  Friday should be an easy day though.  It’ll be a ghost town at work.  I only know of one other person in my department that’s going to be there.  I’m taking Monday off, so I’ll get my long weekend on the back end.

I’m going to my brother’s for Thanksgiving dinner, so that means I’ll get to play with my nephews and watch some higher than usual-quality football for a Thanksgiving Day.  Even better, they need me to baby-sit for them on Friday night, so I’m sure I’ll have some adventures to chronicle for you this weekend.

As I sit here today, I easily realize how good I have things now.  I have a good job, a secure place to live and some dough in the bank.  I have family, friends and a Pinky that love me.

Also, I have you, who stops by regularly or occasionally, to see what I have to say.  The gift of your attention is something for which I can never adequately express my thanks.  Thank you for your visits, your comments and in many occasions, your friendship.

Happy Thanksgiving!
"Mangia!"

When my kids were little, and I was preparing the turkey to be stuffed, they loved it when I stuck my hand up that turkey's ass and made it dance around the kitchen counter before I stuffed it.

Bluz, your adoring fans love your heathen posts. Have a great time with your nephews, and TEACH THEM WELL!!

Judie,
Turkey dancing... big fun indeed.

So what do they serve for Thanksgiving in Arizona? Stuffed cactus? Candied iguana?

Justin,
Thanks buddy. Will do, and you do the same.

Where Did you get that lovely turkey?
Yes. You are one of our reasons to rejoice and live a life of giving thanks.
Enjoy the Bird.

Mary Ann,
The turkey picture is an archive shot from Christmas of 2009. Why download new shot when you have the same thing in the bank?

However, Pinky got a turkey from work, so we'll have that probably on Monday. That's the only way to secure leftovers.

That's a darn good looking bird, man. Even if it is a stock photo from '09:) Thanks right back at you for being a reader, blog pal, and fellow music lover over the last year. I hope Thanksgiving treated you well!

Bluz, it really depends on one's heritage as to what is served on Thanksgiving. When I am making the dinner, I serve a lot of traditional southern dishes, and my turkey is always tender and juicy. My step-daughter calls me the gravy queen, because it is sooooo delicious. When she cooks the meal, there's no telling what we will have. On the way home from her house last night, my son Keil said, "That food was weird!"

Note to Mary Ann: You are one lucky woman! What a fine son you raised! I know you must be really proud of him. Uh, well, MOST of the time!

Bluz, I opted to NOT bring home any turkey from last night, so we're feasting on home-made barbecue!

And I'm thankful to have stumbled across your home in the blogosphere. Hope it was a good one!

Happy Thanksgiving back at you! I hope you are enjoying the weekend with your family. It's rare for me to read your blog in the light of day. It is one of my go-to places on the Internets when I awaken in the middle of the night for no good reason. Frequently I have to stifle my laughter for fear of awakening sleeping hubby.

Brandon (Beer),
It did, indeed. Happy tummy!

Judie,
There's nothing worse than dry turkey... it's so disappointing because you're expecting this wonderful meal and that [gak] you can't even swallow without a heap of gravy. Luckily, I've been very fortunate in that regard.

Jessica,
Thanks, my friend, and same to you. The Internet works in strange and wonderful ways...

Deb,
Thanks Deb, I'm glad to have you as part of the "family" here. And I sure hope that nothing every goes wrong in your marriage... I could just see it; your husband going: "Who is it, that guy you're always on the computer laughing with at all hours of the night?"

Never thought I'd be hungry again for turkey this soon, but that photo did me in.

Thanks for your friendship, Bluz.

Thanks, Cristy.

And the same to you, Sherry. Looking forward to leftovers today, from the turkey Pinky made yesterday.

Mrs. Bachelor Girl,
I get so sentimental over the holidays. And I understand you being late... you were a little busy, weren't you?
