Down Time

By the time you read this, I should be doing this:

Pinky and I are heading down to visit my folks in Florida on Thursday, for a long weekend.  I should have some kind of post up over the weekend, probably gloating about the good times, good food and good booze we’re having, and then we should be back home Tuesday night.  I’ll probably post again on Wednesday.

See, even on vacation, I’m concerned about you not finding fresh material here.  And obviously my life is far too fascinating not to share all my adventures… [snork!

And you know, one bright spot about the Penguins washing out of the playoffs in the first round is that I don’t have to stress out about which game jerseys to pack.  (I mean, what if they played 3 games and lost the first two… if I’d only brought 2 jerseys, I wouldn’t have anything but a losing jersey to wear for the 3rd.  So you can see how stressful this decision would have been.

Anyway… I’m looking forward to hanging with The Oldes.  Maybe I can dig up some more good story material.

So I’m all packed… all I need to do is put all my stuff in the suitcase; I’ll do that tomorrow morning.  But I got the important things done.  I have my reading material, my camera and phone are all charged up, I’m checked in, parking is arranged, newspaper and mail delivery are cancelled, I’ve DVR’d all the TV shows I’ll likely miss…  That’s the hard stuff… the stuff I fret about before traveling.  It’s all done now.

Now, a good night’s sleep and then we’re off to fly the Friendly Skies…

Well, OK, it’s Air Tran, so it’ll be more like the Adequate Skies.

Wow, Bluz in Florida. The mind reels at the possibilities for some good ol' red neck-drinkin', wife-beater-t-shirt-wearin', Cops episode-worthy entertainment. Stand your ground, buddy!

I feel like you're wearing a cloth diaper cover in that picture.

I understand that this is not a nice thing to think, but it's raining here today, and I'm a little pissy about that pool.

Oh, you'll get pictures!

Yes, but in Pensacola, it's the senior citizens wearing the wife beaters. If they give me any trouble,I'll just wait it out until like, 4:00, then it will be dinner time.

That, my friend, it a lime green, printed bathing suit. Jealousy is an ugly thing, Katie.

BTW, it rained like crazy here too.

Have a great time!

P.S. Love the contrast thinking of Cassie running a marathon tomorrow while you'll be doing as little as possible soaking up the rays.

Hey! I remember that hat from last year's photos, Bluz! You look so dashing in it! Hope you have a great long weekend with the Olders, and come back refreshed with lots of stories and photos!

This is too sweet.

I leave that hat here in Florida, so that I don't have to schlep it back and forth. (along with my Steelers crocs and a Hawaiian shirt.) Makes packing so much easier.

I saw the article in the Post Gazette this morning, talking about how the marathon was considered to difficult for a woman to even attempt. Anyway, I thought of you chugging along, like you're probably doing right now.

And I'm betting you're making that race your bitch. Go, Girl.

That is our relationship, in a nutshell.

I've already done my crazy, running-myself-into-the-ground-doing-everything period. Now I'm into my doing-as-little-as-possible period, so that I can save enough energy to get up in the morning.

Although, even at my most "active", I don't think I ever reached "Cassie" levels...

WHAT?! Where was it?

It was right there in the online edition, front page. Mind you, they were talking about a time in the past, not right now. It was one of those "Look how far women have come" kind of pieces.

And you totally rocked it, chicky. So proud...
