The Only Raven I Like

I'm not up for a complicated post tonight.  I want to have a couple beers, relax, and try to stay awake for the Pens game on the west coast tonight.  Luckily, I have some pictures to share.

Last weekend Pinky and I went out for a walkabout, to take some fall foliage pictures.  Well, she went to exercise... I went to take pictures.  The first weekend in November is traditionally the best time to capture the trees at their peak color.  This year it was a little shaky but we did OK.  We went out to the Loch Raven Dam and Reservoir for our adventure.

(Late edit: The title is a tad misleading.  I also like this Raven.)
The Loch Raven Dam.  My goal is to find a way to get up on top of there with a Terrible Towel and have my picture taken while waving it.  They have the access locked up, but I'll find a way, one day.

This is the view from along side the top of the dam.

Down at water level, you can see the difficulty we have in getting good foliage shots around here.  The trees don't change uniformly.  You can clearly see that some are in color, some are green, and some have already dropped their leaves.

View across the reservoir, framed by the trees in the foreground.

The water's edge.  "So that's where all the leaves are..."

There's always one that just won't cooperate.

And to finish off, my favorite political cartoon of the week, courtesy of First Door on the Left.

AWESOME pictures! I may have to put "Baltimore in november" on my list of places to go :)

Just as long as you stay out of the areas known for the drive-by shootings and stabbings. You have to pick your spots.

You know what word comes to mind when I see the photos?

Dam.

Cassie,
Well, it just wouldn't be "you" if you kept your dam opinions to your self, would it? ;o)#

Note to self. Get Bluz as a guide to avoid drive-bys and stabbings.

It's the drive-by stabbings that are especially hard on a person.

Bluz, thanks for the sweet note on my blog. This has been one horrible fucking year.

Judie honey,
I feel for you, I really do. I know how the little furry ones can worm their way into your heart.

I still mourn the loss of my golden retriever from when I was 19. I've never gotten over it. I've been wanting to write about her for ages, but just can't do it.

Yours was a lovely tribute to a good friend and a very good dog, I'm sure.

Beautiful! I love the fall colors. They signal my favorite time of year.

Mine too, Jessica... no question. I love fall. It's got the bright colors, football, hockey, and our birthdays!

Lovely is when the leaves cry color. Maybe the brutal summer heat sabotaged the foliage show this year. Your river shots inspire, visual poems.
Here's to the Terrible Dam Towel!

I sure would like to see the Dolphins dam up the Ravens this afternoon!
